Medicinal uses of Himalayan Salt

Apart from consuming Himalayan salt there are other benefits to be had from this wonderful gift of nature. Himalayan salt remains untainted by pollution in the deep recess of the earth where its hand mined and reaches us in the same pristine condition retaining all of its constituent elements that make it so immensely beneficial. In this article we are going to look at some of the medicinal uses of this amazing salt.

Neti pot and himalayan salt

For those of you who dont know Neti Pot is a nasal irrigation device commonly referred to as nasal douche. The device consists of a pouch like structure that holds water and ends in an elongated bent tube which is inserted in the nose to flush out excessive build of mucus and debris. When neti pot is used in conjuction with Himalayan salt solution it can reduce seasonal allergies and prevent sinus infection. The neti pot is not to be used on a daily basis and should be utalized only in case of nasal congestion. The solution of himalayan salt should be prepared in boiled water or distilled water for achieving maximum effect.

Himalayan salt detoxer

Got an ache in your foot accompanied by inflammation that just wont go away? What you need is a himalayan salt detoxer. The detoxer typically consists of a dome like hollowed out piece of himalayan salt crystal with a bulb fixed at the base. When this bulb is turned on it heats the salt crystal which then releases negative ions immensely beneficial for well being. Just place your foot on the crystal dome when its warm and feel the negative ions flowing in. Alternatively if you cant get your hands on a detoxer you could simply purchase a himalayan salt block, heat it in the oven till its tolerably warm and place your feet (or hands) on it and get the same results.

Not all salts are created equal

I am a health and fitness enthusiast. I spend most of my time nose deep in research about various food substances and their effect on human health. During one of my researches I came across the old saying “not all salts are created equal” which piqued my curiosity and intrigue so I decided to trace its origins. It appears that saying refers to common table salt that we consume and another healthier substitute for it known as Himalayan salt or pink Himalayan salt and even rock salt in some regions. Most of the data that I came across described the composition of both the salts and elucidated how Himalayan salt was superior owing to its constituent elements, unaltered form and 80+ trace elements. I am sure most of the audience is well aware of these facts but what majority probably doesn’t know is that there are varying qualities of Himalayan salt also.

Which Himalayan Salt is the best

When you hear the name Himalayan salt the mind immediately conjures up the image of snow covered Himalayan Mountains in some remote countryside. There are a few things wrong with this concept though! Contrary to the popular belief Himalayan salt is not actually mined and dug out from the mountains directly. The biggest Asian deposit of Himalayan salt exists in a mine called “Khewra mine” which is in the near vicinity of the Himalayan mountain range and hence was named Himalayan salt. Outside of Asia the renowned salt deposits are located in England (Winsford Rock Salt Mines) and Wieliczka and Bochnia Royal Salt Mines in Poland.
